Things to do in Port Elizabeth
Coffee Shops to visit in Port Elizabeth
The culture of caffeine, coffee and coffee shops has evolved over the past few years in Port Elizabeth.
Coffee has been flowing through the veins of our Bay since 1924.
In 1924, Mastertons, the oldest recognised roaster in South Africa, opened its doors in Queen Street (now Govan Mbeki Avenue).
The famous ‘Tea and Coffee House’ now resides in Russel Road – 92 years later, where you can purchase both ground and whole beans.
Additionally, there are several interesting coffee shops around town that we recommend including our very own guest house in Summerstrand - where we stock and serve some of the very best coffee available in South Africa, Arrow Coffee.
Arrow coffee is locally roasted in the heart of the garden route, using premium quality Arabica beans imported from Guatemala, Ethiopia and Brazil.
The Roasteries signature blend is called Forest Blend, which combines nutty and earthy flavours (Brazil and Guatemala) with a hint of chocolate originating from the Ethiopia Sidamo beans.
Arrow Coffee is our house coffee and is available for purchase by our guests and local caffeine lovers.
Bocadillos on 1st and 6th
Bocadillos is known for its chic décor, great service, tasty coffee and baked goods.
In addition to their unique home coffee blend, they are one of the only restaurants in Port Elizabeth to serve Black Insomnia, the strongest caffeine content coffee in the world.
Bocadillos can be found in 1st Avenue Walmer and 6th Avenue Walmer - a skip and jump from our guest house.
